Evil Queen Mommy Daycare

We are finally getting our own place and now I can start up my own daycare. How does Evil Queen Mommy Daycare sound? Too evil? Too regal? I'm also toying with Sunshine Services, my go to brand name since childhood when I'd make catalogs and try to sell stuff to my mom. Ideally, I'd love to have a couple children around Thor's age to watch, then Thor could get used to other kids his age, and have some other babies to crawl around with and stuff. I have tons of baby things, even things Thor can't even use yet, so it will definitely be a fun place for the kids. If anyone knows someone looking for reliable, affordable care, send them my way!

Moments and diaper pricing

It is moments like this, when Thor crashes on me, content with a full belly and a warm lap to snuggle on, which remind me that  everything else is worth it.  There is something entirely sweet and serene about a happy, sleeping baby. He likes sleeping on me, because I unintentionally bounce. I have no idea how I will ever get him to sleep in his crib.

I'm using his nap time to look up cheap diapers online. I'm playing on the computer while holding my baby! Does that make me a bad mommy?I've recently started keeping track of how many diapers we go through a day and it's about 21. Therefore finding cheap diapers is very important to me. I've tried so many brands of diapers and cannot decide on one. He seems fine in all, but the Huggies lil movers, but I think they just run small. Let me just say this, despite Huggies having the most expensive and smallest diapers, they have excellent customer service. Both times I complained or offered constructive criticism, they sent me coupons for a free pack of diapers. Their Snug and Dry diapers are even normal sized, so that's a plus. Unfortunately, they are so expensive I can only buy them if they are on sale and I can stack coupons.
As for the cheaper brands, there are Luvs and store brands. So far, my favorite diaper has been Parent's Choice, the Walmart brand, but recently they changed their design and now are more similar to other brands. They used to run a bit bigger than other brands, but I'm not sure these new ones do. Last I checked, Luvs still ran a bit bigger though. In a pinch, Kroger has their brand diapers for 5 bucks a pack. They run a bit small, but not as small as Huggies. Target brand is also great so far, very soft, cute polka dots, and, when purchased in the largest boxes, they are the second cheapest I've found. The very cheapest is the fisher price kind, which is much cheaper if you buy it using the 20% Amazon Mom subscribe and save discount. I'm still testing this brand though, so I'm not positive if I like them enough yet. They are very cute though. http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Happy-Nights-Diapers-Value/dp/B002Q0WQ18/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320799903&sr=8-1
And free shipping with Amazon mom!!!!

So any cheap diaper tips, let me know!!!!

Welcome!

After years of having private blogs, I have finally decided to come out of the closet (of blogging that is).  Let me tell you a little about myself, my name is Cathy, and I am a formula feeding, early solids feeding, co-sleeping, attachment parenting, disposable diapering, couponing, non circumcising first time mommy to Thor Alexander, a delightful, yet impatient, 3 month old. You are welcome to ask me about any of these choices I have made. Some are due to extensive research and others may be more personal reasons. I am open minded and deeply value the opinions and experiences of others.

I am mostly a SAHM, but also work part-time as a daycare assistant and tutor ESL. I am hoping to eventually start a daycare at home. I am married to my middle school crush, Chris. I have extremely strong views on numerous subjects related to childcare. These might change as I go through the peaks and valleys of raising my first child.

The reason this blog is starting now and not three months ago is due to the lack of sleep I had the first three months of my baby's out-of-womb life. I had a C-section after 2 days of laboring, so I was wore out. Don't let anyone tell you a C-section is easy. The spinal tap was the most painful experience of my life, and I had to have it done twice, because I was shaking too much from the Pitocin they had given me earlier. Also the recovery is terrible, my back still hasn't healed.

The best advice I was given was to sleep when the baby sleeps. The first month he was eating constantly, doing nothing, but waking and crying and then sleeping. My first learning experience was that the more attention I gave to him when I was taking care of his needs, the less likely he was to cry. I'm still learning, but it is a lot easier than before.

Feel free to message me for any questions, advice, rude remarks or anything at all that strikes your fancy.

Cathy ^_^
